Surface-Safe

Surface-Safe custom protection for delicate surfaces and components

Carts with textile interiors designed to separate and protect components during internal handling. Compartments, materials and configurations are defined considering part geometries, finishes and conditions of use.

When the surface is part of the value of the component

Painted components, design parts and aesthetic surfaces require attention even in the phases before assembly or delivery. During internal handling, loading and picking, contact and rubbing can compromise the finish. Protecting delicate components is therefore a requirement to consider in the design of the system that holds them.

Surface-Safe integrates custom textile compartments to separate the parts and protect their surfaces. Dimensions and layout of the compartments are developed considering the geometry of the components, the contact points and the methods of insertion and extraction.

The discussion starts from the product and its use: which surfaces must be preserved, how many parts must be held and how they are handled by operators. This information helps define a custom protection solution consistent with the needs of the application.

Structure, materials and compartments defined on the component

Custom protection requires assessing together the component, the material that comes into contact with its surface and the system that holds it. The characteristics of Surface-Safe are defined according to the project requirements and the conditions of use.

Steel or aluminium structure

To be assessed considering dimensions, loads and handling.

Textile interiors

Materials selected according to finish and application.

Custom textile compartmentalization

Compartments developed on the geometries of the components.

Access to components

Layout that considers loading, insertion and extraction.

Inserts for existing containers

Possibilities to be assessed after verification of compatibility and requirements.

Surface-Safe to protect automotive lamp covers

The case of automotive lamp covers shows how surface protection can guide the configuration of the system. Component geometry, finish and how the parts are handled are the elements to link to design choices.

Case Study 1

Automotive lamp covers

01

Il problema

Headlamp covers, class A components with complex geometry and non-standard dimensions, generated scrap not in production but during internal handling: micro-scratches from friction, deteriorated single-use packaging, too few parts per cycle compared with volumes.

02

La soluzione

Surface-Safe solution tailored to the geometry of the cover. Tyvek® pockets that wrap the component without direct contact between surfaces. Number of parts per cycle optimized, dependence on single-use packaging eliminated.

03

Il risultato

Handling scrap eliminated. More parts per cycle. Recurring logistics costs reduced with the elimination of single-use packaging.

Do you want to assess Surface-Safe for your line?

Describe the component, its finish and how it is handled. Indicate which surfaces must be preserved and how loading and picking take place.
Photos, drawings and dimensions help us understand the need and identify the technical aspects to explore for custom protection.
